Being charged with a crime could be very detrimental to the reputation of the accused. This is especially true if the defendant is young and has past charges on their record. In order to reduce the impact of allegations, the accused should seek to defend the charges. This could provide them with the opportunity to reduce the charges against them or possibly have them dropped altogether.
Following a traffic stop by University of Georgia Police, a 26-year-old man was arrested for drug charges. The stop took place of East Broad Street. It is no clear what initiated the stop, but it was reported that the young man was cited for a seat belt violation.
The traffic stop led to the man being charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, two counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia and two counts of possession of a prescription drug outside of prescription container. These numerous charges could result in serious penalties, such as fines and even jail time. Furthermore, it was reported that the suspect already has robbery charges pending.
Due to the seriousness of the situation and the numerous charges, it is important that the accused fully investigate the situation. In these matters, there could be errors in the processes carried out by authorities. This could mean an illegal stop, search or seizure. If they failed to properly conduct these steps, the defendant could use this evidence to have evidence made inadmissible or even have charges dropped.
No matter the situation, an individual facing drug charges should understand their situation fully. This could mean seeking advice about their options. This could strengthen their defense strategy, and provide them with optimal results such as reduced or dropped charges. Finally, this could lessen the impact the charges have on their personal and professional life.
