School Panel Hearings

Atlanta, Georgia, Panel / School Board Hearings Lawyer

In addition to any Juvenile Court or other criminal hearings that a student may be subjected to as a result of their actions at school or school functions, parents may also find that their child is facing administrative hearings before a School Disciplinary Panel. These Disciplinary hearings allow a panel of teachers to hear evidence against the student and to decide on punishments ranging from short term suspension to expulsion.

Without any "Court" intervention, the parents could be forced to provide private education, transportation to alternative schools, and any other requirements the Panel feels are appropriate.

Students also face having teachers and counselors decide what the Individual Educational Plan (IEP) should be for that particular student which could limit the student's curriculum without the benefit of any independent input from the parents or an attorney.
