Did you know that Georgia has a 'Super Speeder' law?

Georgia readers know that state laws are strict regarding traffic violations. One of the most common traffic violations is speeding, and while this may seem like a relatively harmless action, it can result in serious penalties. In some cases, traffic law violators may earn the label of "Super Speeder."

Super Speeder is a designation that means you will face increased fines and penalties. More than just a normal speeding ticket, the cost is high and the repercussions are steep if you do not follow the requirements. After any type of traffic violation, especially a speed-related violation, you could benefit from experienced guidance regarding your legal options.

Super Speeder and the loss of your license

According to Georgia law, a Super Speeder is an individual convicted of driving at or over 85 mph on roads and highways in the state or at or over 75 mph on two-lane roads. The following may help you understand the repercussions of violating the Super Speeder Law:

  • You will have to pay the fines and fees associated with the traffic ticket in whichever jurisdiction gave you the ticket. You will also have to pay a $200 fee to the state.
  • If you do not pay your fees to the state within the required period, you will lose your license to suspension.
  • The suspension of your license will result in additional fees, including fees associated with reinstating your license.

If you allegedly violated the Super Speeder law, you are facing more than just an average speeding ticket. Often, people overlook the serious nature of a traffic violation, but it is always worthwhile to protect your interests. A potential loss of your driver's license could affect your ability to work, transport your kids and much more, and a conviction or guilty plea is never your only option.

Why fight a traffic ticket?

Getting pulled over and receiving a traffic ticket is inconvenient, but it could be costly in more ways than you may anticipate. In addition to your fines and fees, it could result in higher insurance rates and other complications, particularly if the state labels you a Super Speeder.

You may think there is nothing you can do, and that you should just pay your fines and move on, but that is not always the case. It is prudent to at least seek an evaluation of your case to better understand why and how you can fight a speeding ticket.
