Millionaire matchmaker contestant charged with domestic violence

October is Domestic Violence Awareness month in Georgia and throughout the United States. Purple is the color utilized to recognize this important effort. By highlighting the negative effects of domestic violence, advocates hope to eradicate domestic abuse. As many Georgians focus on domestic violence, there are high profile individuals that are being accused of abuse.

The Millionaire Matchmaker is a popular dating show on the Bravo network. Each week love starved bachelors and bachelorettes find love with the help of an experienced matchmaker. One of these former millionaires is in the news after police were summoned to his home.

The former reality show contestant was arrested on in September on suspicion of domestic violence in Beverly Hills, California. Officers that arrived at the scene describe breaking down the front door to rescue the alleged victim. The former reality star is being held without bail on domestic violence charges.

There are legal remedies that can be used to protect victims of domestic violence. Depending on the facts of the case, a judge may award a protective order.

Though a protective order cannot protect a victim from a violent partner, it does serve as a warning. A violation of the order may lead to additional criminal charges or even felony charges.
